Transport and Logistics

A brief introduction to the Transport and Logistics sector in Denmark

The transportation sector is a vital part of Danish economy. Denmark consists of the peninsula of Jutland (Jylland) and a number of islands. The largest and most densely populated are Zealand, on which the capital Copenhagen is situated, Funen, and the North Jutland Island. The islands are well connected by bridges, and transportation by road is therefore the preferred choice. Driving from the North to the East of Denmark takes no longer than six hours.

The sector covers a wide range of tasks and disciplines such as transportation of dangerous goods, transportation of large cargo, such as wind turbine blades, day to day delivery of goods to retail stores, and international transportation, just to name a few.

The transportation sector in Denmark is growing. It faces a shortage of skilled and trained employees, and therefore has a high demand for candidates with specific certification such as dangerous goods, crane operators, and more.

The sector consists of a number of smaller and medium sized companies, and larger companies, such as:

  • DSV
  • Blue Water
  • Post Danmark
  • Danske fragtmænd
  • Leman
  • GLS
